Where is my plan?

It’s over thirty-five years since the first funeral plans were taken out in the UK. A lot will have happened in any life over that time. Just as much will have happened to the companies that sold them. Many of the original sellers were independent funeral director businesses. Some of these have joined larger groups or decided to switch to offer plans on behalf of the larger specialist plan providers in the interim. Many people bought a plan and put the papers away ‘until they would be needed’. It’s therefore not unusual for families or planholders to discover documentation in the names of companies that are no longer trading. In most circumstances, such plans were transferred to another provider and carry on today. All plan providers are now required to issue regular statements to planholders. Most families will have up to date paperwork from their provider. However, some will have changed address and not told the funeral plan company. Maybe there has been a change of name or some other reason that means the provider has lost touch with the customer.

We have created a comprehensive directory. It includes many organisations which once offered funeral plans for sale. It is not yet exhaustive, but consulting the alphabetical index should point you to the current operator of plans offered by a now-defunct company. We also include the email address for the customer service teams at that organisation so you can enquire directly. We hope this will be of assistance to help identify who now administers a plan.
